WORKS for SOLOISTS and CHAMBER ENSEMBLES
Meditations (2017)
Solo Percussion
Meditations is, simply put, a meditation sequence derived from a pentatonic scale built on D-flat. The music is scored for one solo percussionist playing metallic percussion with a combination of mallets and bows with a final note being struck on a prayer bowl to end the sequence. The music is inspired by many methods of meditation and the goal of the music is to be internal, peaceful, and thought-evoking.
In Darkness of Night (2018)
Pierot Quintet (fl, cl, vln, vc, pf)
In Darkness of Night is a short piece for pierrot quintet that aims to paint a dreamy picture of the vast, openness of night. Dramatically the music plays with the idea of balance - between the concepts of what we do and don't see under the cloak of night and also the balance between the instrumental forces and how they intertwine to create different sonic textures.
Clockwork (2019)
Percussion Duo + Electronics
Clockwork is a study of contrapuntal writing, scored for two percussionists and electronics. Throughout the piece, rhythmic motives are passed between the two live players and the electronics, weaving through varying textures, meters, and timbres until it reaches a final climax.
Reverie (2019)
Saxophone Quartet
Reverie is a short work for saxophone quartet that describes the feelings of inner reflection and inner spirituality. The piece opens with the main motive motive representing inhaling and exhaling while the soprano saxophone sighs and soars over the top of the ensemble, fading in and out. The piece follows this motive throughout as it transforms and begins to question itself before winding back down to inner reflection.
Reverie was written for and is dedicated to the Iridium Saxophone Quartet.
